Welding Instructions

• Cleaning Grind or file away mill scale. Remove surface oxides with pickling paste or 35 percent nitric 5 percent hydrofluoric acid solution at room temperature. Use nonchlorinated degreasing solvent, methanol acetone, or methyl ethyl ketone to remove grease and oil
• Fitup Clamp joints where possible
• Equipment Constant current power source DCEN for GTAW with a contactor for arc start and stop, high frequency starter for manual welding, water cooled GTA torch with gas lens and 1/4 inch number 12 gas cup
• Atmospheric Protection Molten weld metal must be protected by holding shielding gas over the weld zone until it cools down to 600 degrees F to prevent embrittlement by oxygen, nitrogen and hydrogen
