The basalt fiber allows Lava Tube to protect components from continuous temperatures of 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit, and intermittent temperatures of 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit. This makes Lava Tube an ideal and superior alternative to silicon-based thermal barrier sleeves in applications above 500 degrees Fahrenheit. Lava Tube is also extremely durable against abrasions and chemical exposure. Lava Tube has been designed with a special hook-and-loop fastener system, so it can be installed without the need for disassembling components or removing lines and hoses. Lava Tube is available in four diameters ranging from 1/2-inch to 1 1/2-inches, and either 3-foot long or 10-foot long rolls. Custom lengths are also available. It can be easily cut to length.
