Scrapers will not produce a finish that is as good as a gouge, but are useful in many situations where cutting with a gouge would be difficult or a fine finish is not required. The bottom edges are radiused so that you can use it at an angle for even more effective cutting.
Nitriding reduces surface friction, improves wear resistance and significantly enhances edge holding.
